Delhi: IMD predicts rise in temperature; mercury to hit 40°C by month-end

The national capital is expected to see a rise in temperature in the coming days with mercury likely to hit 40 degrees Celsius by month-end, the Met department predicted. Summer has finally arrived in Delhi with the temperature soaring high each and every day. On Sunday, the mercury in Delhi jumped by around two degrees, after falling to 34.5 degrees Celsius the previous day. The national capital was witnessing mild weather with sun and strong winds, but with the constant rise in the temperature, the mercury is expected to hit 40 degrees Celsius by the month-end. As per the report by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperature jumped to 36.8 degrees Celsius on Sunday, five degrees above normal for this time of the season. According to the report, Delhi’s Pitampura was the hottest area of the city at 38.7 degrees Celsius, followed by 38.5 degrees at Yamuna Sports Complex in East Delhi. Delhi Budget 2022: "Delhi's economy is recovering gradually from the impact of COVID-19. The budget allocation for 2022-23 is ₹ 75,800 crore," Manish Sisodia said in his budget speech. New Delhi:  Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today presented a ₹ 75,800 crore budget in the Assembly for the financial year 2022-23. "Delhi's economy is recovering gradually from the impact of COVID-19. The budget allocation for 2022-23 is ₹ 75,800 crore," Mr Sisodia said in his budget speech. The budget size for the financial year 2021-22 was   ₹   69,000 crore. The budget size for 2022-23 is 9.86 per cent higher than the previous year.

Covid Makes Comeback In US As Omicron BA.2 Variant Becomes Dominant

Covid-19 deaths are running at around 900 per day -- with a total of one million deaths from the disease expected withing about a month. Washington:  Covid is making its latest comeback in parts of the northeastern United States as the BA.2 coronavirus variant becomes dominant in the country, officials said Wednesday, while urging Congress to pass new funding or risk the supply of future treatments and vaccines. The country is currently registering an average of 28,600 cases per day, down well below the last peak of more than 800,000 average daily infections, seen in January. Rajya Sabha discussion on J&K Budget turns into debate on ‘Kashmir Files’, opposition slams BJP

New Delhi : What was supposed to be a discussion about the Jammu and Kashmir Budget in the Rajya Sabha Tuesday turned into a debate on Vivek Agnihotri’s film  The Kashmir Files , with Opposition members accusing the BJP government of failing to make way for the return of Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley despite having had more than seven years to do so. J&K's Gulmarg Records 4 Times The Normal Temperature. Farewell, Snow

Srinagar:  Against a normal temperature of four degree Celsius, Jammu and Kashmir's Gulmarg recorded 17 degree Celsius on Thursday. The sudden four fold increase in temperature over the past few days, in the famous ski resort city, has caused early melting of snow. In the last one week, maximum temperature in Kashmir has gone several degrees above normal. It's almost double than normal in the plains. Srinagar recorded over 26 degrees against a normal of 14 degrees. Meanwhile, Kupwara on Thursday remained the hottest place in the Valley at 28.6 degree Celsius. It is exactly double than normal in this season. Unusual and above-normal temperatures were registered across many other cities on Wednesday. Jammu, the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded the hottest day of the season at 35 degrees Celsius, nine notches above the normal for this part of the season, an official said. Delhi education department suspends two teachers, terminates two staff members

“As there is very little time left with us to prepare our students for exams, senior officers… will continue to visit schools each working day and strict action will be taken against anyone who is found lacking in his or her duty," the director of the education department said. The Delhi education department has suspended two teachers and terminated the service of two staff members of a government school following a surprise inspection ahead of examinations. Director of Education Himanshu Gupta visited two schools in South Delhi on Wednesday. He observed that in one of the GBSS School, Moti Bagh No.1, a few tew teachers were not taking classes and “syllabi in their subjects are lagging” as a result of which two of them were suspended with immediate effect.
